Delia: V.2a - Now with 100% more Demons!


We got two stages now! This one adds a couple new gimmicks I've been playing around with, like triggered projectiles and enemies that are weak to only certain weapons. I also had some more people play the game and heavily reduced difficulty in the first level, and tried to fix up the HUGE bug of enemies sort of... clipping/floating away. It's fixed. Enemies can't just wander into walls anymore.

I've been struggling with trying to make things very clear in terms of hitboxes and what is interactable and what is not. Initially I thought with fewer colors this was less of an issue, but with the detail I try to get in sometimes it falls apart. Hopefully everything here makes sense.

Biggest thing I need to fix: Lag. This usually just means reducing the amount of things on screen at once, but it's hard to say. Looking at a lot of Gameboy games, the majority of them had very few enemies on screen at once. I'm probably just pushing this a little too hard, as sometimes things just don't load in correctly, if at all. Such as, ascending very quickly makes it so certain things just never load because the area they were supposed to load it was uncovered too fast the game can't keep up. Sometimes, bats, who are supposed to chase you, only catch your X or Y coordinate but not both, so they only move to one coordinate but not the other.

These are all pretty common things of old games, and I really just have to live with it. I remember lots of old strategies that just involved despawning enemies, so that isn't much different here.

Hopefully, everything works pretty nice and easy with little issues, but I'll keep updating if need be.

CHANGELOG:

-Added in Stage 2, which has a few new enemy/npc mechanics, and included the conversations before and after it

-Eased difficulty of Stage 1

-Put in an autosave system (unchecked so far, but hopefully works)

-Added in more ability to skip cutscenes

-Changed Flash+SFX for certain powerups to give more feedback, especially on the invincibility timing

-Changed how enemies move as a whole to make them not clip through walls/float away

-Tweaked how pits/lava works in general

-Replaced all bounce mushrooms with George Slimingtons - multiple mushrooms were confusing to players.
